The ownership of the National Film Trustee Company Limited (“NFTC”) has changed from British Screen Finance Limited to Freeway Entertainment Group (“Freeway”) with effect from May 2010.
Founded in 1971 and a subsidiary company of the UK Film Council since 2000, NFTC has played an important role in supporting the growth and development of the British film industry. It currently administers revenues for more than 460 films, including many classics of British film and European cinema.
Freeway is a financial services company operating in the international entertainment industry, a market-leader dedicated to maximizing the earning potential of its clients’ entertainment assets. Using tailor-made royalty collection and flexible revenue administration systems, Freeway offers an effective solution to its clients’ royalty management needs. Freeway’s three main activities are:
- Collection Account Management;
- Intermediary Licensing and Distribution; and
- Revenue Reconciliation Services.
On behalf of the entire team at Freeway, we are proud and delighted to welcome you as clients of our company.
As part of its endeavours to reduce overheads in a rapidly changing film industry economy, British Screen Finance Limited conducted a review of options available to NFTC: It concluded that, going forward, NFTC’s clients would best be served by NFTC‘s operations being incorporated with those of a larger company.
As new owner of NFTC, Freeway intends to merge the collection account management divisions of NFTC and Freeway. Freeway is currently undertaking organisational changes in order to adopt the best practices of both organisations to ensure that clients will receive the best collection account management and revenue administration services.
You should not notice any interruption of service and the future revenues on your films will continue to be distributed in accordance with the terms of your existing collection account management agreements. The unique legal and financial structure of the company from a trust perspective will not be changed. We will continue to hold all monies on trust which ensures our clients are protected in the event of insolvency, changes in ownership or otherwise.
